Small, clear choices about storage and consent.
HabitPaws uses a small number of browser and server technologies to keep the service working and, when you choose, understand how the site is used.
Essential session cookie
When you sign in, HabitPaws uses an HttpOnly session cookie named pawsteps_session to keep your parent account connected to the service. It is required for account features, expires after the configured session period, and is not used for advertising.
Optional analytics
The main app asks before starting the current first-party analytics system. If you decline, the app does not send analytics events from that browser. You can change the choice through the consent prompt on a future visit by clearing the site’s local storage or browser data.
Google-certified CMP preparation
Public editorial pages contain a disabled integration point for Google Privacy & Messaging, a Google-certified consent management option. It does not load a Google CMP or advertising tag while the site configuration is disabled. The owner must insert the site-specific script URL and publisher settings generated in the Google account, then test consent, withdrawal, child-directed treatment, and the EEA/UK/Switzerland consent journey before enabling it.
Advertising boundary
No advertising is currently served in the family dashboard or demo. If parent-facing editorial ads are introduced, they must be gated by the approved consent flow and use the conservative contextual/child-directed configuration until the audience and legal basis have been reviewed. A privacy choice must be available after the first decision.
How to ask for help
For product questions, use the signed-in Feedback board. Before advertising launch, the owner should add a monitored privacy contact for consent requests and other rights requests. Include only the minimum information needed to help; do not send a child’s sensitive details by email.
Important: This page describes the current implementation and preparation state. It is not legal advice and should be updated when vendors, consent tools, or advertising practices change.
